FAQ

Basics

Unlike other platforms, Kid Art Show is designed specifically for young artists. This has two advantages: 1) the platform allows children and teenagers to independently sell their artwork in full compliance with regulations that safeguard the online privacy of minors, and 2) Kid Art Show aggregates buyers who specifically wish to purchase original works made by kids.
Yes, if you choose the "Display Only" option when publishing or editing your work, then sale functionality will be disabled and your work will be published under the "Display Only" category.

First, a parent or guardian signs up and grants access to the child artist. This allows the artist to log in to a separate sub-account, from where the artist can create listings including a photo and description of the work and desired price. The listing is then published in the Browse Art page, where buyers can purchase it using any major credit card.

Once a work of art is purchased, you have five days to mail it to the buyer using USPS, UPS or any other carrier that provides a tracking number. When delivery is confirmed, we deposit the payment into a bank account provided by the parent.

Kid Art Show is COPPA compliant, and the online safety of children is our highest priority.

Child artist accounts must be initiated and authorized by a parent or guardian, who then has oversight of all activity on the minor's account.

Child artist accounts do not have the ability to send or receive messages unless enabled by a parent, and we do not collect or publish any information from children other than photos and descriptions of their artwork.

To protect children's online privacy, we do not collect personally identifiable information from children's accounts.

The information children can submit from their accounts includes:

  • Artwork photos
  • Artwork titles and descriptions
  • Artwork prices and shipping cost
  • Edits to username and password (used to log in and not displayed publicly)

There is no private messaging ability from artist accounts, and public commenting on artwork display pages is only possible if specifically enabled by a parent. If you do choose to enable commenting, you will have the opportunity to approve each comment before it is visible to your child or the public, as well as monitor any comments posted by your child.

To prevent spam and uphold the integrity of our community, new listings carry a nominal fee.

If the item is sold, a facilitation fee of 6.5% of the price of the item is deducted from the amount we deposit to your bank account.

Listings do not expire. However, in order to uphold a community of active sellers, sales listings revert to display only status after 4 months of inactivity. We will notify you when this happens and, if the item is still for sale, you may set the listing to For Sale status by editing it from the Your Artwork page of your account.
If you enable tipping when creating or editing an artist account, then all listings and display pages created by the artist will include an option to leave a tip for the artist. When a tip is received, we will notify you by email and provide instructions for entering a US bank account where you can receive a payout for the tip.

When creating or editing an artist account, parents can choose whether to enable comments to be posted on the artist's artwork display pages, and whether to allow the artist to post comments on the pages of others.

To prevent spam and help ensure appropriate content, only artists who have published artwork and parents or patrons who have made a purchase or tip have access to post comments. New comments are first reviewed by our staff to screen out any spam or inappropriate content. Then the artist's parent is notified by email of the new comment, and can choose to accept or decline it. Once a comment is approved by a parent, the artist is notified and the comment is published on the artwork display page.

Listing Artwork

Any type of original handmade (non digital) artwork that you can securely package and ship to a seller are allowed, including drawings and paintings, ceramics, etc.

We do not allow photographs, recordings, digital goods or reproductions of any sort.

To protect children's privacy, photos of artwork published at Kid Art Show may not contain the full names or identifiable likenesses of minors (including identifiable self-portraits). If an artist has signed an item with his or her full name, you may opt to create a listing where the signature is blurred or removed from the artwork photo.

Artwork also may not depict nudity or contain anything that may be deemed offensive or inappropriate for young children to view. If you aren't sure whether an item meets this criteria, please reach out to our team for advice before listing.

No, unframed works are fine. We recommend that you specify in your listing that a given work is unframed, if it is not clear from the listing photo.

Artists may edit all listings, and delete listings not yet sold, at any time using the edit button in the Your Artwork screen of their accounts.

Selling Artwork

When a work of art sells, we notify the parent by email, and provide the buyer's shipping address. The parent is then responsible for ensuring that the item is securely packaged and shipped to the buyer within a week of purchase.

Either the parent or the artist can then log into his or her account, and confirm shipment by entering the tracking ID number provided by the shipping service. Once delivery is confirmed by the shipping service, we deposit payment into the parent's provided bank account.

You may use USPS, UPS, or any other major shipping service that provides delivery confirmation via a tracking number.
Flat works should not be mailed in paper envelopes, as they may be bent or crushed during shipping. We recommend using cardboard mailers, or packing them in between two pieces of cardboard or other stiff layers before shipping. For larger works, tube mailers are also a good choice.

If an item becomes damaged or unavailable, you can use the edit option in the artist's account to either change the listing to "Display Only" or delete the listing.

If it happens that a damaged or missing item is sold, please notify us right away so that we can issue a refund to the buyer.
